User Specific Prevention Procedures: Hunters

Waterfowl hunters should be aware that it is possible to inadvertently spread aquatic nuisance species from a contaminated lake or wetland via boats, motors, trailers, waders, dogs and decoys. Assume that all aquatic plant fragments are potentially harmful and should not be moved between different bodies of water.

User Specific Prevention Procedures: Dog Owners

Many dog owners take their dog down to the water for a swim, to retrieve or to just have fun playing in the water. Dogs can pick up weeds, larvae, and other things that could be potentially harmful when you go to another body of water.
  • Check dog's body including feet, coat, and color for any visible mud, plants, or animals and remove.
  • Wash your dog with clean water.
  • Brush your dog's coat.
