Didymo Terror Threat for New Zealand's Hawke's Bay Region

August 23, 2007 -- An alleged threat to release the ecologically destructive freshwater pest didymo into the Waiau River near Wairoa has led to a police investigation which is likely to result in charges being laid.

Police have confirmed a 55-year-old Wairoa man may face charges resulting from the alleged threat which, if carried out, would lead to the invasive pest spreading throughout the region. Read the full story to get the details.
