Cogongrass Battle Needs Private Landowner Assistance
July 22, 2004 -- Kudzu maintains its stronghold in Mississippi, but now there's cogongrass, as well. Designated as the seventh worst weed in the world and included on the Federal Noxious Weed List, cogongrass has found a home in southeast Mississippi. "The Mississippi Coastal Plains Resource Conservation and Development Council has conducted several workshops with participation and sponsorship from the Forest Service and its partners to educate private landowners, on how to identify cogongrass, the hazards associated with cogongrass, how to control cogongrass, and why the invasive species should be fought."
