What's Recasting Success in Carp Fight as a Failure?

May 20, 2010 -- On the eve of a planned poisoning of waters
around a Chicago-area lock to see if any Asian
carp turn up, Attorney General Mike Cox and the
attorneys general of four other states criticized
federal officials for not taking more
comprehensive emergency action. The poisoning
effort is overdue, they said.

“Further delay is unacceptable,” the attorneys
said in a seven-page letter to the Army Corps of
Engineers today. Read the following two articles to get the details.

"The attorneys general said the planning process for what to do about Asian carp is not transparent enough and that federal officials haven’t said what their plans are beyond the poisoning this week near the O’Brien lock, starting Thursday and expected to last about six days."

"The plan to apply fish poison for the first time in nearly six months - in just one of the areas that have tested positive for Asian carp (environmental) DNA - is not enough. They need to take real action on all fronts."
